Bail bid postponed for six Sharpeville tavern attack accused
The bail application against six accused in the Tshepiso tavern attack in Sharpeville , in the Vaal, has been postponed to the 25 August.
The accused made a brief appearance in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The accused allegedly attacked and robbed customers of their money and cellphones at the tavern in June.
One of the accused allegedly raped three women.
The accused allegedly also went to the house of the tavern owner shot him and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, bank cards and house belongings.
They are facing charges of robbery, crimen injuria, assault with intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm, three counts of rape and attempted murder.
The case has been postponed for the sixth accused Tsietsi Makae to get a lawyer after his previous private lawyer ditched him for non-payment.
The second accused, Snyman Makgajane who allegedly raped three women during incident has abandoned his bail.
