Durban is gearing up for the MTN8 Final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with traffic changes, parking arrangements and a public viewing area planned for football fans.

Durban is preparing to welcome thousands of football fans as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns go head-to-head in the MTN8 Final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October.

With supporters expected to descend on the city for the highly anticipated match, eThekwini Municipality has activated an operational plan covering traffic management, public safety and crowd control around the stadium precinct.

For visitors planning to attend the match or soak up the football atmosphere in Durban, the City has outlined key arrangements to help fans plan their day.

Isaiah Ntshangase Road will be closed from midday and is expected to reopen after the match once it is safe for motorists and pedestrians.

Enhanced traffic measures, clear signage and marshals will be in place to assist with traffic flow.

Motorists who are not attending the match are advised to avoid the stadium precinct and use alternative routes.

The Durban Metro Police Service will work alongside the South African Police Service to help safeguard supporters, residents and visitors throughout the event.

Football fever hits Durban as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns prepare to face off in the MTN8 Final on Saturday.

A designated drop-off zone has also been established on Umgeni Road. Motorists are urged to use the area responsibly to avoid obstructing traffic.

Fans travelling to the stadium should plan their journeys around the road closures and allow for additional time to reach the venue.

Supporters without match tickets are being urged not to travel to the stadium precinct.

Instead, the City has established an official public viewing area at the Bay of Plenty on OR Tambo Parade in South Beach.

Live entertainment will begin at midday, offering supporters an alternative place to gather and enjoy the occasion.
