NPA aims to restore public trust in IDAC: Mothibi
National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Advocate Andy Mothibi says the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is on a mission to restore public trust and confidence in the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption .
This follows testimonies at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry leading to the suspension of some IDAC officials and the resignation of its head, Andrea Johnson.
Mothibi briefed Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development on the NPA’s annual performance report.
He says some of their interventions include lifestyle audits, the case audit project, capacity enhancement and the appointment of Adv Ntuthuzelo Vanara as the acting head of IDAC.
Mothibi says Vanara is hard at work.
He says, “Advocate Vanara has hit the ground running; already we are seeing the green shoots, stability and in fact I indicated to him that we need to see.
Since all of these stability initiatives have been implemented, are we receiving new referrals from the public? We’ve got quite a number of referrals.” RELATED VIDEO | Adv Johnson requests immediate release from office: Reporting by Mamkela Mtshiyo.
