Expert believes Tembe was possibly pushed from balcony

SABC News ·

A forensic evidence expert in the Anele Tembe inquest has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Lieutenant-Colonel Jeremy Philander says he believes Tembe was possibly pushed from the balcony of a Cape Town.

It’s alleged she fell from the balcony while with rapper Kiernan Forbes in April 2021.

Philander says, “The physical evidence is not consistent with the possibility that the deceased slipped and fell from the balcony.

The time it took for the body to fall ranges between 2.3 and 2.6 seconds.

The absolute minimum impact velocity was calculated at 82 kilometres per hour, a velocity high enough to cause serious damage to the human body and most likely death.” Tony Forbes, the father of the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, says he is patient with the legal process and pleased that the inquest has finally started after five years.

Tembe, who was engaged to AKA, died after falling from the tenth floor of a Cape Town hotel in April 2021.

Forbes says he is willing to remain patient as he wants justice to take its course.

“I’m happy that the inquest is resuming.

Um, it’s been five years since the incident.

So, I think it’s good that, you know, finally, the inquest is gaining momentum.

So, I’m happy to be here and observe and listen and understand,” he says.
