Court taken through CCTV footage at AKA, Tibz murder trial

The State is taking the Durban High Court through hours of CCTV footage in the murder trial of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

It is building its case against the seven men accused of murdering the pair.

The court has heard how investigators collected surveillance footage from more than 15 locations, some of which were visited by Forbes and his entourage, on the day of the killings.

These included the Hilton Garden Inn, where AKA stayed after arriving in Durban, as well as other locations they visited before heading to Florida Road, where the pair was gunned down in February 2023.

RAJAN SANDERS The 46th witness on the State’s indictment, Constable Rajan Sanders, has detailed how the footage was collected, preserved and secured as evidence.

Saunders also collected footage from private residences to assist investigators in reconstructing the events leading up to the killings.

He told the court that the footage was downloaded onto USB devices, placed in exhibit bags and booked into the Berea Police Station.

Saunders testified that he takes precautions when downloading the recordings to ensure there is no tampering with the footage.

The footage is expected to form part of the State’s case as it continues to outline the events surrounding the killings.

All seven accused have pleaded not guilty.
