EU leaders reaffirm strong support for Ukraine and Zelenskyy

SABC News World ·

European Union (EU) leaders have assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that their support is as strong as ever, as they arrived together for a second day of the EU summit in Brussels.

The support comes as United States President Donald Trump sharply criticised Zelenskyy for resuming strikes on Russian energy facilities.

Trump accused Zelenskyy of driving up oil prices.

European Council President Antonio Costa spoke to the media on the sidelines of the EU summit.

“Our message to President Zelenskyy is very simple.

The support of the European Union for Ukraine remains as strong as ever.

This is no time to withdraw support for Ukraine.

This is no time to relieve Russia’s sanctions.

Now it’s time to increase our support.” EU leaders arrive for a two-day summit in Brussels https://t.co/7vN1nx6FQF — Reuters (@Reuters) October 15, 2026
