WATCH | Fadiel Adams returns to Madlanga Commission

South Africa - Pretoria - 19 August 2026 - Suspended MP Fadiel Adams, appears before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Suspended MP Fadiel Adams returned to the Madlanga Commission on Thursday after a bruising day of testimony that exposed contradictions in his evidence and raised fresh questions about Crime Intelligence, the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) and the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).

Adams was pressed by chair Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga over a Commission notice he previously claimed to have seen only three or four months ago.

Emails produced during proceedings showed he had received and answered the notice in October 2025.

Adams conceded he had been “untruthful”, saying he had forgotten about the correspondence.

Adams denied unlawfully obtaining or distributing classified Crime Intelligence material, telling the Commission documents had been slipped under the door of his parliamentary office.

He said the information raised concerns over alleged corruption, secret funds, police vetting and the handling of investigations.

Adams also rejected suggestions that his criticism of the PKTT was personal, arguing that his concerns centred on accountability and the unit’s finances.

He claimed that the task team had an annual budget of R100 million while investigating approximately 130 murder dockets over three years.
