Masemola aims to unite SAPS, strengthen its institutional integrity

National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, says one of his key priorities as he resumes his duties is to unite the organisation and strengthen its institutional integrity.

Masemola has officially returned to office following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to lift his precautionary suspension after the formal withdrawal of all financial misconduct charges against him.

Addressing the media on Monday, Masemola says he returns determined to strengthen the South African Police Service (SAPS).

“I address you this morning against the backdrop of the lifting of the precautionary suspension and my return to office as the National Commissioner of Police.

It is in this spirit that I return to office determined to unite the organisation, strengthen its institutional integrity and advance our constitutional responsibility to serve and protect the people of South Africa.

It’s not about an individual; it’s about the responsibility entrusted for leadership continuity.

The organisation SAPS is central to our democracy in the country,” says Masemola.
