Mbalula says the courts will handle Andile’s removal from the list
The African National Congress (ANC) Secretary – General, Fikile Mbalula, says Andile Lungisa’s legal challenge over his removal from the ANC’s candidate list is a matter that will now be handled in the courts.
Mbalula says Lungisa could have used internal ANC mechanisms to raise the issue, but instead he decided to take the matter to court.
Lungisa alleges that Mbalula ordered the removal of his name from the Nelson Mandela Bay mayoral candidate list, despite the party’s National Executive Committee giving him the green light.

In a letter seen by the SABC , Lungisa claims that he complied with every requirement, including undergoing the vetting and biometric verification.
The matter will be heard in the High Court sitting in Johannesburg on the 26th of September.
Mbalula explains, “ Well, I received the letter, but A ndile Lungisa is an author of the ANC guidelines, and if you talk about the metrics and write me through the lawyers, it’s a matter that I will settle in court, and I have to respect that process because whatever I’m going to say on behalf of the ANC about what he has written will be used against me in a court of law, either to the point of saying we misinterpret the guidelines or anything of that sort.
So, I don’t get involved with that.
But as a leader politically of his calibre and NEC member, he must know how to raise issues of that nature, because it’s not only him who’s affected by issues.” Video | Mbalula on Andile Lungisa, Pemmy Majodina issues
