Ntuli calls for swift arrests in murders of two KZN ANC members

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has condemned the killing of two African National Congress (ANC) members in Umgababa, on Durban’s south coast on Thursday.

Police say ANC Ward 98 election coordinator, Lungani Makhathini and a campaign volunteer were shot dead while conducting a door-to-door campaign with fellow party members.

Unidentified gunmen travelling in a bakkie allegedly opened fire on the group.

Three other campaign volunteers were wounded and are reportedly in critical condition in hospital.

Ntuli has called on the police to work around the clock to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. -Report by Asanda H lambisa
