Australia’s captain Pat Cummins and Matt Renshaw led an afternoon fightback to see the tourists to 187-6 before bad light brought a premature halt to play on the opening day of the first test against South Africa on Friday.

The pair put on an unbeaten 63 for the seventh wicket with Renshaw four runs
