Findlay Reservoir contamination prompts alternative water supply
The City of Tshwane has activated an alternative water supply to parts of Pretoria following water contamination at Findlay Reservoir.
A sewer pipe burst causing contaminated water to flow into the system.
The city has now isolated the affected source and has begun flushing the network.
Affected areas include Pretoria Central, Arcadia and Sunnyside.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo has urged residents in affected areas to boil tap water before use as the city works to restore water quality.
“Please discard stored tap water and ice made from tap water.
Water tankers will be provided for safe drinking water and their locations and availability will be communicated.
The boil-water advisory remains in place until further tests confirm that the water is safe.
Please share this message with others.”
