Two awaiting-trial prisoners escape from Limpopo police cells

SABC News South Africa ·

Two awaiting-trial prisoners have escaped from the Waterval police cells outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo.

Police Spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the suspects escaped by cutting through burglar bars and iron grills above the cell balcony.

The escapees, Tafara Zangarai, aged 30, and 35-year-old Ndalamo Nemakhavhani, were being held for separate cases of robbery in the area.

Mashaba says that a manhunt has been launched.

Police are urging members of the public with information about the whereabouts of the escapees to contact the nearest police station or crime stop number.
