Rookie coach Josh Carr has achieved just six wins, although has had to deal with a lengthy injury list including captain Connor Rozee playing just two games.
It’s the lowest they have finished on the ladder since 16th in 2011, and second lowest in their entire history.
Cornes unveiled his famous ‘Wheel of Blame’ on the Power’s problems, singling out list manager Jason Cripps as the person most at fault.
“I did not want to do this, I did not. I’ve been resisting this for a long, long period of time,” Cornes said on The Agenda Setters.
“In fact, I was going to wheel it out six weeks ago. I’ve resisted. It hurts me to do it. It is time for the Port Adelaide Wheel of Blame.
“Well, it has to be the list manager, Jason Cripps. That’s where their biggest problem lies.
“It’s going to be a tough 3-5 years as they finally go to the draft, which they’ve been reluctant to do. Don’t worry about the list cloggers, Cripper.
Cornes then took aim at the supporters for expecting a premiership every second year, and also hounding former coach Ken Hinkley out of the club.
“The Port supporters, this goes way back, way back, because in the old SANFL days, they used to win the premiership every second year,” he said.
“They don’t understand that you do not win the premiership every second year. They hounded Ken Hinkley out of the place when he was one of the best coaches in the league. They got him out of the joint, and now they’re happy that they’re 15th, and they’re telling me they want to tank, the supporters.”
Cornes gave current coach Carr a decent slice at 13 per cent before taking aim at long-time chairman David Koch.
