Brisbane Broncos smashed for embarrassing Adam Reynolds farewell: ‘Nothing’
The Brisbane Broncos have been savaged for their shabby treatment and embarrassing farewell to NRL champion Adam Reynolds.
Not only did beleaguered coach Michael Maguire refuse to give Reynolds a final game , Reynolds had to share his lap of honour with a Kia car promotion.
It was the ultimate humiliation for Reynolds with absolutely no fanfare ... and as he waved to the crowd the big screen at Suncorp Stadium flashed pictures of the care give-away.
Sports broadcaster Zane Bojack called the hopelessly inadequate pre-match celebrations for the 323-game champion “disgraceful”.
“The bad week for the Brisbane Broncos just keeps going,” Bojack said.
“As the players who are exiting from the club (Adam Reynolds, Corey Jensen and Jesse Arthars and Delouise Hoeter) did a lap of honour, the big screen switched to a promotion for KIA.
“The screen left them for the promotion before they had even made it halfway down the Eastern Side ...”
“Regardless whether he was playing or not, the Broncos could’ve done something to send him off,” Hindmarsh said on Fox.
“They had a bit of a clap pre-game in the middle of the pitch and that was about it.
“There was no fanfare. It just doesn’t seem there was enough build-up.
“He’s a champion player and to not really have a big build-up … there needed to be something special.”
Both Reynolds and Jensen are retiring, while Arthars is off to the Super League and Delouise Hoeter is without contract and won’t be at the Broncos next season.
“Yeah, I hope you’re not offended by bad words, but that was f****** awful. No video montage, no fireworks, nothing,” one fan blasted on X.
And another: “Wow, that’s pretty poor form. Ray Stone received more last week from the Dolphins. Hopefully there’s a bit more planned after the game for Reynolds given how much he’s done for them.”
