Two men seriously injured after masked gang armed with axes and machetes storms Perth home

Masked men armed with axes and machetes smashed their way into a Perth home before a violent clash left two residents seriously injured.

Police say four intruders forced entry through broken front windows at a Currie St house in Warnbro about 2.25am on Monday, sparking a struggle inside as the occupants tried to fight them off.

A man in his 40s suffered stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, while a man in his 50s was stabbed in the lower back. Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries and are expected to survive.

Investigators believe the same home had already been targeted late on Saturday night when several people tried to break in and smashed windows at the property.

Police suspect those damaged windows were then used to get inside during the second attack.

Police have described the incident as targeted and do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public.

“Incidents like this have no place in our community … we understand this incident will leave many local residents feeling unsettled,” a police spokesperson said.

“Someone out there knows exactly what happened, and we are asking them to come forward.”

Anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or other information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
