Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton strains other calf, return unclear

Out recovering from a calf strain since late April, the 36-year-old New York Yankees slugger has strained his other calf while running, MLB.com's Bryan Hooch, reported .

The latest setback, according to hooch, threatens to end Stanton's season.

Stanton has appeared in only 24 games this season, hitting .256/.302/.422 with three home runs and 14 RBI.

His Yankees entered Saturday sitting just three games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for tops in the American League East and are the top American League wild-card team.
