Two drivers killed as trucks collide near Kulithalai

Two drivers were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between two lorries at Kumaramangalam near Kulithalai on the Tiruchi - Karur Highway on Wednesday morning.
The victims were identified as Gopikrishnan (48) of Sethangudi in Mayiladuthurai and J. Meganathan (37) of Jeeva Colony in Mannargudi. While the truck driven by Gopikrishnan was carrying manufactured sand (M.Sand) from Karur to Tiruchi, the lorry driven by Meganathan was transporting paddy bags from Kollumangudi near Mayiladuthurai to Kangeyam.
On information, the Kulithalai police rushed to the spot and removed the bodies of the victims to the Government Hospital for the post mortem. A case has been registered.
The accident caused a traffic disruption for about two hours on the busy Tiruchi-Karur Highway.
