Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Tiruppur unit, on Friday (August 21, 2026), arrested Jothimani, secretary of the Anna Co-operative House Building Society Limited, and two others, Thirunavukkarasu and Dhaksin, on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹45,000 from a housing loan applicant in exchange for disbursing the amount.
The initial bribe demand of ₹66,000 (3% of the ₹22-lakh loan amount) was brought down by Jothimani to ₹55,000, and Thirunavukkarasu received ₹10,000 as an advance on August 19 from the applicant, Loganathan of Gandhi Nagar, for whom the loan was sanctioned on August 11.
Unwilling to pay an additional bribe, Loganathan lodged a complaint with the DVAC unit in Tiruppur.
The DVAC team registered a case and trapped Thirunavukkarasu and Dakshin as they were obtaining the remaining amount under the instruction of Jothimani.
