No Onam celebration is complete without a lip-smacking sadya. Too taxing to cook one at home? The Hindu MetroPlus curates a list of restaurants where you can relish an Onam sadya.
One of Kochi’s oldest vegetarian restaurants, Gokul Oottupura is serving the traditional vegetarian sadya across its many outlets in the city. From pickles to thoran, kalan, puliyinji, koottucurry, pachadi, olan and payasam , the feast includes all the items in the sadya. Oottupura at Forum Food Court will host its first Onam sadya on August 24, 25 and 26. On Thiruvonam day (August 26), sadya will be served from 12 noon onwards at all the outlets. The restaurant had served more than 10,000 sadyas in 2025. Guests are encouraged to reserve their ela (leaf). However, no booking is required for the Panampilly Nagar outlet.

Chef Deepu is laying out a spread of 28 dishes that showcase the variety and richness of Keralam’s traditional sadya in a festive setting. While you savour the sadya, you can also expect to catch a glimpse of Mahabali, see the colourful pookkalam and tap your feet to the beats of the chenda. A pulikali is also part of the celebration.

At its newly refurbished banquet hall, Colosseum, The Renai Cochin will serve the Onam sadya, featuring 28 dishes including three payasams. The Onam sadya this year is built around the theme ‘Apooppan Entha Onam’, an inter-generational Onam round table, bringing together older and young people to share their memories. The initiative aims to reconnect the younger generation with the traditions and values of Onam, says Krishnadas Polakulath, CEO and managing director of Renai Hospitality and Healthcare.

Rasanai is disghing out the full traditional Keralam style Onam sadya starting with upperi, sharkara varatti, chakka chips, pappadam, injipuli, chammanthi and adds a Tamil-style crispy parippuvada for effect. The rest of the sadya items include thoran, mezhukkupuratti, aviyal, erissery, olan, kaalan, pachadi, kichadi, and kootu curry served with kuthari choru (rice) and parippu curry , a drizzle of ghee, sambar, rasam , pulissery , and moru kaichiyathu . Payasams are chakka pradhaman and paalada. Expect a glass of chilled sambharam too.
