The Panchayat Raj & Rural Development (PR&RD) Department is laying connecting roads to more than 100 major temple towns at a cost of ₹120 crore, covering 205 km. About 40% of the works have been completed, Deputy Chief Minister and PR&RD Minister K. Pawan Kalyan said in a statement.

The department identified gaps in road infrastructure that were affecting the movement of devotees to temple towns and took up projects to improve connectivity.

During his field visits, Mr. Kalyan received representations from the public about the poor condition of roads leading to several shrines and directed officials to address the issues. Of the roads being developed under the programme, 26 have been completed and are ready for inauguration.

The completed works include roads leading to the Narasimha temples at Antarvedi and Ahobilam, Sri Gattu Venkataramana Swamy temple at Madanapalle, Devaraya Nallagangamma temple, Singirikona Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, Thalupulamma Lova and the I.S. Jagannadhapuram ghat.

Works are in progress on the Konaseema Tirumala Vadapalli embankment road, the Arthagiri Sri Anjaneyaswamy temple road and the Malleswara Swamy temple road in Puthalapattu constituency. Road works covering 72 km are also under way in Sri Sathya Sai district.
