1 on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100, on the chart released Aug.

The latest novel from Higashino — published posthumously following his death on July 23 at age 68 — leads brick-and-mortar and social media to accumulate 16,394 points this week, the highest single-week point total ever recorded for a novel on the chart.

The previous record was held by Uketsu’s Hen na Chizu ( Strange Maps , 11,566 points), which topped the chart in its very first week on the list released Nov.
