The National Student Financial Scheme (NSFAS) has received more than 868 000 applications for the 2027 funding cycle, with women making up 71% of applicants.
The scheme says applications close at the end of this month, with no extensions.
NSFAS Spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi says students should only apply through its official platforms.
“Applicants are urged to exercise caution, protect their personal information and never pay individuals or organisations claiming to facilitate or guarantee an NSFAS application or funding outcome.
