Carrim expected back in court after spending weekend behind bars

North-West businessman Suliman Carrim is expected to return to the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Monday after spending the weekend at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility.

His case was postponed to Monday to allow the state to verify his outstanding residential addresses.

Carrim faces a charge of contempt of the Madlanga Commission after failing to appear before it despite being subpoenaed.

He was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport last Thursday while preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia allegedly on a religious pilgrimage.
