Devastating winds destroy over 20 schools in NW
Strong winds have damaged more than 20 schools across the North West over the weekend.
The provincial Education Department says schools in Ngaka Modiri Molema, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Bojanala and the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District were affected.
The department’s spokesperson, Dr Elias Malindi, said, “The North West Department of Education has been left devastated after strong and destructive winds damaged the roofs and destroyed mobile classrooms of over 20 schools between 4 and 5 September 2026.
The storms have wreaked havoc on the remaining schools, adding further pressure to the already strained Departmental Infrastructure.
The Department will dispatch its infrastructure teams to assess the extent of the damage and determine alternative measures to ensure that teaching and learning is not disrupted at the affected schools.” X | @SABCNews | More than 20 schools across the North West have been damaged by destructive winds over the weekend.
