Godongwana allocates bulk of budget for commissions to Madlanga

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will receive the largest share of the R516 million allocated to three commissions, following several extensions to its work.

Last month, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced an extension of the commission’s final report to 25 January 2027.

The commission was expected to submit its final report by 16 November.

Briefing the media ahead of his Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS), Godongwana also highlighted the commission’s quarterly reporting process and the arrests already made following its work, describing the approach as an important innovation.
