Court to rule on Shadrack Sibiya’s bail application
Former Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya is expected to learn on Tuesday whether he will be granted bail.
Sibiya is due to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court to receive the court’s bail ruling.
The defence has asked that the 59-year-old be released on R20.000 bail, while the state is opposing his release.
Sibiya faces multiple charges, including human trafficking and the alleged sexual grooming of a 16-year-old girl and rape of an 18-year-old woman .
Sibiya has been in custody since his arrest last month.
The state previously revealed during court proceedings that investigations in the case are at an advanced stage.
The former top cop has been described by the state as a threat to victims should he be granted bail.
He has denied these allegations and told the court that he has been set up by Mr M, who is the complainant in the matter.
