IFP launches North West LGE campaign
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has launched its local government elections campaign at Rustenburg in the North West.
Armed with their national five-point election manifesto, the party says they will be campaigning on topical issues such as the empowerment of women, children and disabled persons.
Having struggled to find a footing in the province, the party’s national chairperson Muziwenkosi Gwala says years of poor service delivery issues in the province have made fertile ground for the IFP.
“You don’t even need to look for issues; they are staring you in the face.
There’s rarely any water not because of natural disasters… It’s because there is no political will to bring water to communities.
Roads have potholes.” Supporters in the province say they are looking for their voices to be heard.
“I would like our councillors to create a place whereby the youth can engage other activities, like arts, so that they are not idle.” In Delareyville, we don’t have a clinic, we walk far to get to the closest one.
Our elders are unemployed and don’t have means to get there.
We want them to advocate for clinics so our elderly can walk there.” -Report by Simthandile Ntobela
