R102 road in EC closed to traffic due to sinkhole

The R102 road in the Eastern Cape has been closed to traffic due to a sinkhole, less than a hundred metres west of the Van Stadens Bridge towards Thornhill.

Provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says motorists travelling from the Kariega turn-off towards Thornhill are advised to remain on the N2 to avoid the affected section of the road.

Binqose says authorities are managing the closure and urges motorists to exercise caution.
