The five trendy health foods actually worth buying, plus the simple breakfast bowl bringing them all together

Nutritionist Sarah Di Lorenzo has put five of the biggest health food trends to the test, rating them on their nutritional benefits, evidence, practicality and value for money.

There are some familiar favourites on the list, including beans, extra virgin olive oil, Greek yoghurt, chia seeds and avocado and she’s bringing all five together in a simple breakfast bowl, showing how easy they are to add to your everyday diet.

1. Night before: whisk chia, yoghurt, milk, vanilla and honey in a jar. Refrigerate.

2. Crispy chickpea tip: drain a tin of chickpeas, pat dry, toss with 1 tsp EVOO and salt, roast at 200°C for 20 min until golden. Keeps in a jar for a week.

3. In the morning: spoon the chia mix into a bowl. Top with avocado, berries and a handful of crispy chickpeas. Finish with a drizzle of EVOO, a pinch of sea salt and cinnamon.
