Major search resumes near Albury for missing barefoot man Daniel Trenchard-Harry
A major search is continuing in southern NSW for a missing 28-year-old man as police urge residents to check their backyards and sheds.
Daniel Trenchard-Harry was last seen on Centaur Rd at Hamilton Valley, near Albury, about 6.30pm on Monday.
Police hold serious concerns for Mr Trenchard-Harry’s welfare, as he lives with an intellectual disability.
Police conducted land and air searches on Tuesday and Wednesday before operations resumed on Thursday.
Mr Trenchard-Harry is known to frequent bushland around the Albury area.
He is described as being of caucasian appearance, about 160cm tall and of medium build, with distinctive red curly hair and blue eyes.
He was last seen wearing blue boardshorts and a blue T-shirt and was not wearing shoes.
Acting Inspector Troy Martin said on Wednesday Mr Trenchard-Harry’s home backed onto bushland but police did not know which direction he had travelled.
“He could have gone into the bushland or he could have gone to the main road. We have no exact location at this stage,” he said.
More than 50 people were involved in Wednesday’s search, according to the ABC, including police, mounted officers, motorbike riders, bushwalkers, specialist dogs and a police helicopter.
Inspector Martin said people who encountered Mr Trenchard-Harry should keep their distance and try to engage him in conversation about fishing, an activity he enjoys.
“If anyone does see him, if you could just talk about fishing with him, if you can just keep your distance while involving him in that conversation, that would be fantastic,” he said.
Police said Mr Trenchard-Harry’s family raised the alarm after they were unable to find him on Monday night.
“We have a number of police with them at the moment and they’re providing the family with support.”
