2028 Nissan X-Trail e-Power: Next-generation SUV previewed as Rogue Hybrid
The next-generation Nissan X-Trail has been detailed in the US, where it’ll wear the Rogue Hybrid nameplate.
First previewed in April 2026, the new X-Trail will reach US dealers wearing the Rogue Hybrid nameplate during the northern autumn (September to November) of 2026.
Nissan Australia wouldn’t confirm when the model will arrive in Australia, where it’ll wear the familiar X-Trail nameplate.
However, history could prove a guide. The outgoing Rogue entered production in the US in September 2020, but its Japanese-built X-Trail twin didn’t arrive in domestic-market showrooms until July 2022, and didn’t arrive in Australia until December 2022.

The Rogue Hybrid features a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which, as in the current X-Trail e-Power, serves only as a generator for the (1.67kWh lithium-ion) battery, instead of sending drive directly to the wheels.
Available only with all-wheel drive, the Rogue Hybrid incorporates a 149kW and 329Nm front electric motor and a 99kW and 195Nm rear electric motor, for a total system output of 165kW – up 8kW on the current X-Trail e-Power AWD.
A one-pedal drive mode is standard, something typically the domain of electric vehicles.
Nissan USA is claiming combined fuel consumption of 38mpg, which works out to around 6.2L/100km.
The Rogue Hybrid features an updated version of the existing X-Trail platform, with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension.
It weighs between 1844kg and 1890kg, and measures 4651mm long, 1849mm wide and 1720mm tall on an unchanged 2705mm wheelbase.
It rides on either 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, and Nissan in the USA will offer a space-saver spare wheel as an option for the flagship Platinum.
There’s a much more angular look to the new Rogue/X-Trail, with sharply creased fenders and bumpers plus a honeycomb grille incorporating daytime running lights.
This angular theme continues to the interior, where it can be seen in details like the cupholder surrounds and the stitching on the centre armrest.
