Eldorado Park couple’s child murder trial to resume in the High Court

SABC News ·

The trial of the Eldorado Park couple accused of murdering their four- year-old daughter and assaulting their three-year- old son is expected to commence on Wednesday morning at the Johannesburg High Court.

The children’s father faces multiple charges including murder, rape, assault and child abuse, whilst the mother is charged with murder, failure to report sexual offences, and child abuse.

The charges against the couple emanate from an incident on the 6th of August last year, when the father allegedly assaulted and sexually abused his four-year-old child whilst the mother was at work.

It’s alleged that neighbours heard the child screaming and alerted the police, who found the child unconscious and having suffered severe injuries.

She later died in hospital from her injuries; the father is also accused of assaulting the couple’s three-year-old son.
