Geopolitical tensions to dominate BRICS Summit discussions: Ramaphosa

BRICS leaders are converging in India this weekend for a summit likely to be dominated by global conflicts and geopolitical tensions.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is heading to New Delhi, where he says the BRICS bloc has an increasingly important role to play on the world stage.

The wars in the Middle East and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are expected to feature prominently.

President Ramaphosa says the Summit will also look at the current geopolitics.

“BRICS Summit is going to review the current geopolitical tension and the current conflict that are happening in the Middle East, not only in Middle East but elsewhere as well.

Even on our continent so those would be also under discussion and review and a very clear position will be taken.

Of-course as an organisation there will always be different views and approaches and perspectives.

So, all those will be dealt with so that we emerge in common position that will lead us to a declaration.” Video: President Ramaphosa on the upcoming BRICS summit
