KZN SAPS offers R50 000 reward for info on missing 3-year-old

SABC News South Africa ·

Police in KwaZulu-Natal are offering a R50 000 reward for information on the whereabouts of 3-year-old Banele Mshubi.

The child was last seen in Kokstad in December last year and was only reported missing on January 4 this year.

The child’s 27-year-old mother was arrested for failing to report her child missing.

Her 43-year-old boyfriend is facing a murder charge after the mother allegedly told police that he fatally assaulted the child over a missing USB (Universal Serial Bus).

Provincial police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo said, “They both appeared in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court where the mother was released on bail, while the stepfather was remanded in custody for further investigation.

The stepfather is also linked to another case of murder in Harding.” “The body of Banele has not been found, and police are offering a R50 000 reward to any person who can provide credible information which may lead to the recovery of Banele’s remains.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Vincent on 082 334 8610 or Crime Stop on 08600 1011.”
