The release came less than a year after she captured the nation’s attention during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games opening ceremony.
The singer joined The Morning Show on Thursday alongside her 11-year-old daughter, Skylah, who is already following in her mum’s entertainment footsteps with roles in productions including Annie and School Of Rock.
Webster’s son Malakai has also had a taste of the spotlight, appearing in a Pizza Hut commercial, as the next generation of the family begins making its own mark on the industry.
“It’s incredible that it can be celebrated 25 years on ... It’s just really about being fun and fresh and remembering where you were in the year 2000,” Nikki told Sunrise.
Skylah, who is just a year younger than Nikki was when she performed at the Olympics, told the program she loves to sit down and watch the footage of her mum’s old performances.
“She likes the songs, and she likes the music, and to me that’s really nice to be able to share it with her.”
A quarter of a century later, Webster is celebrating the anniversary with a special range of merchandise, including a Strawberry Kisses vinyl single, cap, and Nikki Webster T-shirt, which will be available through her website.
“It’s all about having a bit of fun, a bit of a throwback to the 2000s and not taking yourself too seriously,” Nikki said.
