Harmer expects Australia to ‘give it all they’ve got’ in Durban Test

SABC News ·

Proteas spin bowler Simon Harmer says South Africa expect Australia to give it all they’ve got when the first test gets underway in Durban on Friday.

The Proteas recently clinched the One-Day International series 2-1, but the focus will shift to the red-ball format for the next few weeks.

Harmer says the Australians will probably want to take some revenge after losing the World Test Championship final against the Proteas last year.

And he expects them to be all in from the get-go.

“The Australian team is always competitive.

They fight to the death.

Their lower order seems to score a lot of runs.

They have a never-say-die attitude.

They fight until the end, which I think is quite a similar trait to South Africans.

We’re resilient, and we probably do our best when our backs are against the wall.

This was for the world to see in that World Test Championship final.

It was almost a foregone conclusion that Australia were going to win that game, but the team found a way to get through it and to get the win,” says Simon Harmer, Proteas spin bowler.
