‘DA will only take Ramaphosa’s word about GNU, not other ANC leaders’
The Democratic Alliance (DA) will only take the word of President Cyril Ramaphosa and not other ANC leaders in as far as the Government of National Unity (GNU) is concerned.
This is according to party leader Geordin Hill-Lewis, who was in Potchefstroom, North West, for his party’s provincial manifesto launch.
His remarks come after ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula said the DA’s role in the GNU must be reviewed.
“We are not at all phased about that.
I’m focused on winning elections on the 4th of November, and you know the DA is in the GNU to make South Africa work and to get our economy growing, to get people into work.
We’re not there to make the ANC happy.
We’re not there to make friends with the ANC.
We’re there for South Africa.
So, I’m not phased at all by his comments, and you know, if the president has a concern, the president can phone me directly.
I’m not going to respond to more junior ANC officials.” Hill-Lewis elaborates.
